At a point in time when India was just into 14th year of its Independence, back in the south, in today’s global IT hub Bengaluru, a child was born who went on to set his own benchmark of excellence in entrepreneurship with his unique vision for a wonderful, technology-driven world, ably backed by a highly skilled workforce.
Meet Kodandaram Ramaiah, chairman Vendorglobe, and son of late M S Ramaiah – a visionary who built institutions that redefined learning. A year after Kodandaram’s birth in 1961, his illustrious father laid the foundation of the country’s one of the most prestigious institutes of technology, MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology in Bangalore, since rechristened Bengaluru.
Ramaiah Medical College followed next. And, then, Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, M S Ramaiah Medical College, Ramaiah Institute of Management or MSRIM and last but not the least Ramaiah Memorial Hospital- a fruition of senior Ramaiah’s long cherished dream of providing state-of-the-art, inexpensive modern healthcare facilities to the common men. This, of course is a different story- a story about a philanthropic Dr M S Ramaiah, a streak effectively and in totality being inherited by his equally enterprising son Kodandaram Ramaiah.
“My father believed that investment in education was the way forward for the development and progress of the nation. His thoughts and spirit have been the driving force for Ramaiah Group of Institutions to uphold his values and spiritual thoughts for the future,” says Kodandaram, who is not the one who would feel content about basking in his father’s glory. Though, his father has been his constant source of inspiration.
Kodandaram’s love for agriculture saw him join the prestigious University of Agricultural Sciences in Bengaluru where he obtained his Master’s Degree in Horticulture. Not satisfied with his skills, he soon set sail for the United States to obtain another Master’s Degree in Plant Sciences at the University of Idaho. Realising the importance of having work-experience, he joined a company in New York for hands-on training. But the country beckoned him.
Back in India, Kodandaram Ramaiah, got down to further building upon the strong edifices of M S Ramaiah Group and started working on his dream projects. First among his many projects M/s Ramaiah International Private Ltd was set up in 1998, a year after the demise of the colossal Dr Ramaiah. It had been a mentally very challenging period for him. But he did not give up.
The next project was- MSR Chemicals & Fertilizers Pvt Ltd - set up in 2001. It was his love project for the farmers of Karnataka and aimed at helping meet their demand by manufacturing and marketing the granulated fertilizer.
In 2004, Kodandaram established MSR Biotech Pvt Ltd for producing and marketing disease-free and high quality fruit and ornamental plants. Come 2005, MSR Hotel (Bangalore) Pvt Ltd, was incorporated to start a 5 Star Hotel at Bangalore in collaboration with Movenpick Hotels & Resorts of Switzerland.
Kodandaram Ramaiah is the director of MS Ramaiah Educational Institutions. He has been relentless in his quest for excellence in providing high quality teaching and a stimulating and supportive environment for students. Always eager to try out new out of box ideas, he recently launched a Non-Deposit NBFC to provide loans to Ramaiah Institutions’ employees at a very competitive interest rate.
With such trail blazing accomplishments as an entrepreneur and having global educational and professional exposure, Kodandaram Ramaiah’s involvement in spearheading Vendorglobe’s growth in an increasingly globalised competitive food and hospitality supply chain has been of enormous significance for the company’s long term outlook.
As a chairman of the company he has been instrumental in addressing the pain-points of the industry through right selection of qualified workforce for the industry. Today Vendorglobe has emerged as a critical tool in the food and hospitality sector, Kodandaram’s penchant for technology especially a reliable regime of automation for the industry has given the company an extra edge in the field.
The seasoned entrepreneur fondly remembers a quote by his father Dr MS Ramaiah: “What we have done for ourselves alone, dies with us. What we have done for others and the world remains, and is immortal.” No wonder, for Kodandaram Ramaiah this has been his kernel principle that always propels him to explore new frontiers of excellence in all his endeavours.

A man with a mission,’ is how Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Vinu Prasad is known among his colleagues at the Vendorglobe, provider of world class technology solutions, and Askpurchase, a unique product of the company and technology platform for procurement for the hotel and hospitality industry.
As one of the founder directors at Vendorglobe, Vinu is credited with developing critical technology architecture for a vast array of applications and global clients from multiple sectors of industry in India and at the world stage.
A believer in thinking ahead of his times, Vinu’s passion for innovation and technology development arches over larger priority of meeting the immediate needs of the clients to finding solutions that can stand the test of time.
Vinu comes to the Vendorglobe with the experience of working in multiple sectors in the technology domains cutting across various verticals. Especially, his knowledge in the field of automation has earned him kudos from a cross section of sector experts.
He currently heads the Development and Delivery vertical of Vendorglobe. With his experience in successful planning, execution and delivery of several complex ERP solutions, Vinu Prasad has become a valuable asset to the company.
A testimony to Vinu Prasad’s intellectual prowess and trailblazing academic accomplishments, he has passed out of University of Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE) with flying colours, bagging the top position and winning five gold medals in the process.
After completing his Bachelors of Engineering from UVCE, he went on to complete his Masters of Technology from International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore, as Director Merit List Holder.
Before joining Vendorglobe, Vinu has worked with organizations like Texas Instruments, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore besides the ABB Research Labs. He was a key member of the team which developed an evaluation tool for IEC-61211 complaint modules at the ABB Research Labs.
Vinu Prasad vast experience and knowledge of technology domains also propelled him into exploring new opportunities as an entrepreneur. He started his own venture under the banner Techmilana Business Solutions. The company focused on web and mobile based applications design and development on cross platforms.
Vinu has been closely associated with Aikya Business Solutions and in designing and architecting MGNREGA (Aadhar card equivalent for laborers) and deploying the same across Karnataka. He has also served as technical consultant for Ascentya Research and Development, pioneering complex solutions in agricultural and defence segments.
All these speak volumes of this technocrat’s multifaceted expertise and his insatiable quest for technological excellence.
